St. Joseph's Catholic Church – Palm Bay, Florida
Built in 1914 by pioneering Catholic families who settled in Florida in 1912, St. Joseph's Catholic Church stands as the oldest Catholic church in continuous use in Brevard County. The church was constructed by parishioners themselves after a land development company failed to deliver on its promise to build a proper house of worship. Bishop Michael J. Curley dedicated this historic wooden church, which served the nearby communities of Melbourne and Eau Gallie, with residents traveling by wagon or boat to attend services. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1987, this architectural gem now serves as a chapel for the adjacent cemetery. For their historic ceiling restoration, St. Joseph's chose Shanko, America's oldest and most trusted metal ceiling manufacturer, ensuring that this sacred space retains its authentic period character for generations to come.
